Covid Gyan: An Initiative towards the Welfare of the People

Covid Gyan: COVID-19 is a contagious disease caused by a virus called SARS-CoV-2. This virus leads to a severe respiratory syndrome. The first known case of COVID-19 was found in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Since then, the disease has rapidly spread worldwide, resulting in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Covid Gyan Initiative : Glimpse

Scientists and engineers have been working together on an unprecedented level to study the behavior of SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing COVID-19. They are trying to understand how the virus spreads, develop better tests for it, and create new technologies to combat it. They are also looking at ways to deal with social distancing and evaluating the effectiveness of communication during this pandemic. In April of 2020, a program called Covid Gyan was started to provide accurate scientific information about the pandemic.

Covid Gyan Associated with TIFR, IISc, TMC etc

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) are working together to understand how viruses and diseases spread and how to prevent them. They have partnered with Vigyan Prasar, India Bio science, and the Bangalore Life Science Cluster (BLiSc), which includes the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), and National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS). Together, they have launched the Covid Gyan website on April 3, 2020, as one of their initiatives.

Covid Gyan : Information & Resources

This website is a place where people come to find information about COVID-19. It has resources that were created by Indian research organizations with government funding. The information on this website is based on the latest scientific knowledge about the illness and how it spreads. The main purpose of this website is to help the public learn more about the disease and understand it better. It is a trustworthy source of information and possible treatments for COVID-19.

Furthermore, as mentioned before, this website is a reliable source of information about COVID-19. It provides various types of content to ensure accurate information, such as audio presentations and podcasts by well-known scientists, infographics, posters, videos, articles debunking myths, and even links to scientific papers. This user-friendly website not only gives you knowledge but also earns your trust. Since its launch, it has gained significant attention from scientists on popular social media platforms. Moreover, the website is adaptable and offers similar articles in multiple Indian languages. Presently, they provide information in nearly 12 different languages.

Covid-Gyan Program/Session

In the Covid Gyan program, mental health and well-being were seen as important aspects of knowledge and platforms for sharing information. To support this, we introduced various articles, infographics, and a special interactive community program called the Sundowner Sessions, all focused on promoting well-being. These sessions happen online in a webinar format where experts from the scientific community and other fields discuss important topics. The sessions are led by a Covid-Gyan member and cover subjects that are important to society. Some of the topics discussed include parenting during the pandemic, feeling tired of news, women who work from home, and how science is communicated in the new normal.

It is important to note that the Sessions are meant to bring together people who are facing similar challenges due to the global pandemic. The Sundowner Sessions offer a space for community members to connect, share their experiences, and openly discuss their concerns.
